We
wish to honor the history, heritage, sacrifices and memory of the Corp of Cadets and the common soldier and to promote interest
in and study of the War Between the States and the contribution of the Corps of Cadets the success of the war effort. To
this end, we will serve our Battalion as runners and pickets, have cadet battles at the end of the day, learn from other units
in the WCWA, learn about living history and first person presentation, and enjoy a unit banquet at the end of the season.
In short, we will function as any other unit in the WCWA.

In
order to prepare cadets for the day they can join the WCWA as a military member, we learn or demonstrate: 1. the “manual of arms” 2. the “School of the Company.” 3. how to recognize the various officer ranks and the honors paid
to those officers. 4. how to determine which branch of service a soldier serves in. 5. the proper way for 1860’s cadet to address elders, ladies,
soldiers and others. 6. an abbreviated unit history of the member units of the WCWA. 7. some basic camp and battlefield safety. 8. participation in some of the camp activities with the adult units.
